    • Rock River students learn history on field trips

    • Students at Rock River Alternative?School in rural Geneseo have spent the year learning about the history, geography and culture of the surrounding area. School principal Steve Kastorff said the cross-curriculum project has included field trips to area spots of interest, including Blackhawk?State Park, Wyffels Hybrids, Augustana?College’s Fryxell Geology Museum, Lock &?Dam No. 15 on Arsenal Island, Nahant Marsh, the Buffalo Bill Museum and Antique Archeology in LeClaire, Iowa. Rock River Alternative School students live in communities throughout the Illinois Quad Cities and surrounding area. Kastorff said the lessons are designed to help students get to know their communities better. “This project will continue throughout the rest of the school year,” he said.
