Elizabeth Stannard, 89, of Seattle, Wash., died Sept. 6, 2008. A memorial service was held Sept. 27, at Christa Home, Seattle. Burial was in Seattle.

She was born Oct. 12, 1918, in Marion, Iowa, the daughter of Charles A. and Grace (Ringle) Buell. She was a graduate of Geneseo High School and Kewanee Business College. She worked as a secretary for the Office of Strategic Services in Washington, D.C. There she meet her husband, Edward Stannard. They were married in 1949, in Geneseo. He is deceased. Her husband was a naval aviator and their last home was in Tacoma, Wash., where he was employed at Boeing as an engineer. After his death, she worked for Christa Ministries as a secretary to the president.

Survivors include a son, Charles, of Washington; a sister, Kathryn Cole of Alpha; a granddaughter, Megan Grindy; a grandson, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and a sister, Barbara Searle.
