Louise C. Ziegler, 83, of Geneseo passed away Sunday, Nov. 23, 2008, at her home. A Mass celebrating her life will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29 at St. Malachy’s?Catholic Church, Geneseo. The Rev. Michael Pakula will celebrate. Burial will be in Oakwood?Cemetery, Geneseo. A visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28 at Vandemore Funeral Home, Ltd., Geneseo, and 1/2 hour prior to Mass a the church. Memorials may be left to the Louise Ziegler Memorial Fund.

She was born on Dec. 27, 1924, in rural Geneseo, the daughter of August and Emma (VerWeire) Calsyn. She attended Cambridge schools. She was united in marriage to Charles C. Ziegler April 9, 1947, in Geneseo; he preceded her in death on Jan. 18, 2008. She had been a cook at the former Wright’s Nursing Home, Geneseo; the former King’s Table, Geneseo; and other Geneseo restaurants. She was a member of St. Malachy’s Catholic Church, Altar and Rosary Circle No. 13, VFW Auxiliary, Women of the Moose, War Mothers and past president of the American Legion Auxiliary. She loved to play bingo, going to the boats, word books and crocheting.

Survivors include a two daughters and son-in-law, Susan and Joe Ricail, Atkinson, and Donna Ziegler, Geneseo; two sons and daughter-in-law, David and Rebecca Ziegler, East Moline and Gary Ziegler, Rock Island; 10 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; sisters-in-law and spouse, Verda Mae and Bill?Wolf, Geneseo, and Marian Frank, Geneseo; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and two sisters.
