Starting Dec. 1, a recycling program will be available to all Geneseo Township residents.
A drop-off recycling container will be located at the township building, 690 S. Chicago St.

Geneseo Township residents may drop off accepted recyclables at any time from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. There will be no charge for residents to leave their recyclables at the drop-off container.

The new recycling program is the result of an agreement between the?Geneseo Township Board and Eagle Enterprises Recycling Inc. of Galva.

Anyone using the recycling container is asked to follow the rules on the sign attached to the container.

Items accepted include: newspapers (including inserts); magazines; cardboard (corrugated, cereal or tissue boxes); office paper; junk mail; telephone books; hardback or paperback books; aluminum cans; aluminum foil; aluminum scrap (lawn chairs, siding, etc.); steel or tin cans; light steel (coat hangers, bicycles, etc.); plastics No. 1 through? No. 7 (except No. 6, which is Styrofoam. Look for the number inside the recycling trainage on plastics); plastic grocery bags (No. 2 or No. 4); and bubble wrap.

Township officials ask that only recyclable items be placed in the container. No sorting is necessary. Sorting will be done at Eagle Enterprises’ facility in Galva. All recyclables will be sent to processors to be made into new products.
