  • Keith E. Kuriger, 58, of Blue Grass, Iowa, died Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009, at Trinity Pathway Hospice,  Bettendorf, Iowa. Funeral services were held Monday,  Dec. 28, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island. Visitation was Sunday, Dec. 27, at the funeral home. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the Mayo Clinic, Department of Neurology Research.

  • Keith E. Kuriger, 58, of Blue Grass, Iowa, died Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009, at Trinity Pathway Hospice,  Bettendorf, Iowa. Funeral services were held Monday,  Dec. 28, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island. Visitation was Sunday, Dec. 27, at the funeral home. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island.     He was born Jan. 12, 1951, in Davenport, Iowa, the son of Lester and Dorothy (Lindley) Kuriger. He married Therese Koster April 5, 1997, in Blue Grass. He was a 1968 graduate of Rock Island High School and received his bachelor of science degree in communications from Southern Illinois University in 1975. He lived and worked in Houston, Texas, as a welder, from 1977 to 1983. He was employed from 1983 to 1999 by Riverside Products of Moline as a sales representative. He retired from Airgas Inc. in 2007, due to illness. He was an active participant in outdoor activities, spending much of his recreational time boating on the Mississippi River. He was an avid runner, finishing the first five Quad City Marathons and enjoyed downhill skiing, especially in Utah. He also enjoyed spectator sports, following the Chicago teams and the Rock Island Rocks. He was a friend of Bill W. since 1991. He was a dedicated family man, devoted to his wife and daughter and her many activities. He truly believed his daughter, Erika, was his “miracle”, having been born later in his life.
    Survivors include his wife, Therese; daughter, Erika Kuriger, at home; stepdaughters, Kate Koster of Fresno, Calif. and Kelly Koster of Blue Grass; his mother and stepfather, Dorothy and Robert Pope of Rock Island; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Geraldine and Donald Manley of Davenport; a brother and spouse, Craig and Marsha Kuriger of Geneseo; stepsisters and spouses, Margot and Randy Palbicki of Rock Island, LenDel Peterson of Rock Island, and Candace and Rod VanScoy of Davenport, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Lester, and his stepmother, Eileen.
