Mary C. “Marikay” McNamara, 93, of Geneseo, died Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010, at Hammond-Henry Hospital, Geneseo. Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 18, at St. Malachy’s?Catholic Church, Geneseo. Fr. Michael Pakula officiated. Burial was in North Cemetery, Geneseo. Visitation was Sunday, Jan. 17, at Stackhouse-Moore?Funeral Services, Geneseo, where a rosary was recited and a service by the Women of the Moose was held. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Malachy’s Catholic Church, Geneseo Historical Society or to Richmond Hill Players.

She was born Nov. 2, 1916, in Chicago, the daughter of Daniel E. and Agnes (Nolan) O’Meara. She married Glenn T. McNamara May 25, 1946, in Chicago. He died Oct. 9, 1990. She had worked as a telephone operator for AT&T in Chicago before moving to Geneseo with her husband where they operated the McNamara’s Inc. Variety Store from 1955 until retiring in 1986. Her memberships included St. Malachy’s Catholic Church and Circle 6 of the church. She was also a member of the Women of the Moose, Geneseo, Geneseo Chamber of Commerce, Home Extension and Hammond-Henry Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed volunteering for Richmond Hill Players and for Geneseo Historical Society. She loved flowers, enjoyed square dancing and was very proud of her Irish heritage.

Survivors include nephews, nieces and many special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two brothers, Timothy Philip O’Meara and Daniel O’Meara.
