The Lady Leaf track and field team got its first taste of the competition in the new Northern?Illinois Big 12 Conference at the NIB 12 Indoor Conference Meet March 19. Geneseo was able to hold its own with the new teams and turn a few heads as the Lady Leafs placed second to Kaneland in first.


The Lady Leaf track and field team got its first taste of the competition in the new Northern?Illinois Big 12 Conference at the NIB 12 Indoor Conference Meet March 19. Geneseo was able to hold its own with the new teams and turn a few heads as the Lady Leafs placed second to Kaneland in first.

Leading the girls were Amanda Egan in the shot put with a first-place finish of 37-1 1/4, followed by Kaci?Storm in the 55-meter hurdles with a first-place finish in 9.05 seconds. The 4x400-m relay of Emily Ford, Katie Eastburn, Halle Olson and Storm also took first in 4:22.21. Jamie DeFauw took home second place in the high jump, clearing 5-0, while Ford came in second in the 1600-m run in 5:27.69.  Eastburn finished third in the long jump with a leap of 15-11 1/2, while the 4x800-m relay of Morgan?Kelly, Amber Fobert, Hannah Lohman and Britta Conrad came in third in 11:07.52.
In fourth place were Paige Gatter in the 3200-m run with a time of 12:11.68 and Ford in the 800-m run in 2:24.07. Rounding out the top 5 finishes were Darrian?Hartman in the pole vault with a final height of 8-6; Andrea Kastorff in the triple jump at 31-11; and Jade Collins in the 200-m dash in 28.46.
