The Geneseo High School girls' track and field team placed ninth, the highest finish in school history, at the IHSA State Finals May 20-21 in Charleston. It also marks the first time Geneseo has had any athlete win multiple medals in the same year.


The Lady Leafs also set a school record with six state medals and earned the first state relay medal since 1986.


Amanda Egan nabbed medals in the shot put with a sixth-place finish and second in the discus; Kaci Storm took fifth in the 100-m hurdles and sixth in the 300-m hurdles; Emily Ford came in ninth in the 800-m run; and the 4x400-m relay of Katie Eastburn, Ford, Halle Olson and Kaci Storm placed seventh.
