Joyce R. Rickman, 80, of rural Osco, died Tuesday, May 24, 2011, at Trinity Rock Island. Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 27, at First Lutheran Church, Geneseo.


Joyce R. Rickman, 80, of rural Osco, died Tuesday, May 24, 2011, at Trinity Rock Island. Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 27, at First Lutheran Church, Geneseo. The Rev. Dr. Arthur Bergren will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo. Visitation was held Thursday, May 26, at Vandemore Funeral Home Ltd., Geneseo. Memorials may be made to the First Lutheran Church, Geneseo.

She was born Oct. 24, 1930, the daughter of Roy and Margaret (Swanson) Stenzel. She was a 1948 graduate of Geneseo High School. She married William K. Rickman Feb. 18, 1951, in Geneseo. She assisted her husband, Bill, in farming in rural Osco for over 50 years. She was a life member of First Lutheran Church, and a member of WELCA at the church and Homemakers Extension. She was an avid china painter and enjoyed flower gardening.

Survivors include her husband, William; a daughter and spouse, Deborah and Scott Hawkins of Elmhurst; a son and spouse, Rodger and Stephanie Rickman of Geneseo; two grandchildren and spouse, Royce and Jen Rickman of Davenport, Iowa, and David Rickman of Osco; a brother and spouse, Royce and Sharon Stenzel of Cambridge; two nieces and a nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents and two infant sons.
