Jacob R. Salas Sr., 52, of Chicago, died March 28, 2012, at Advocate Trinity Hospital, Chicago. A visitation was Tuesday, April 3 and funeral services were held Wednesday, April 4 at Elmwood Funeral Chapel, Chicago and St. Francis de Sales Church. Internment was at Holy Cross Cemetery, Calumet City.
He was born on Feb. 5, 1960, the son of Epifanio and Gloria Salas of Chicago. He went to school in Chicago and graduated from Black Hawk College in Moline with two degrees. He married Rhonda Wisdom of Geneseo on May 12, 1979. They later divorced. He married Pamela Alvarez Salas of Chicago in 1999. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, being a member of the Signal Corp, and served three tours of duty in Germany. He also was stationed in Colorado and Georgia.
Survivors include his widow and ex-wife; his daughters, Julie (Ray) Blankenship of Geneseo, Cynthia (Steve) Rick of Atkinson and Linda (Alexander) Corber of Colona; step-children, Veronica Alvarez, Benjamin Salas and Nina Salas, all of Chicago; grandchildren, Liliana, Autumn, Kyle and Summer; step-grandchildren, Nicole, Alicia, Angel, Eric, Kira and Alison; four brothers; five sisters; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Jacob R. Salas Jr.; his parents; two brothers and one sister.
