  • Donna J. Pobanz, 77, of Geneseo, died Monday, May 14, 2012, at Geneseo Good Samaritan Village. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 11 a.m.?Saturday, May 19, at First United Methodist Church, Geneseo. The Rev. David Joyce will officiate. Inurnment will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo. Cremation has been accorded. A visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday prior to services at the church. Memorials may be directed to the American Diabetes Association or the Henry County?Humane Society. Vandemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services,?Geneseo, is assisting the family with arrangements.
    She was born on Dec. 8, 1935, in Kewanee, the daughter of Madeline (Lippens) and Dan Goode. She graduated from Kewanee High School and nursing school in?Galesburg. She married Albert Moulton and lived in Sheffield. In 1977, she and Virgil Pobanz were married at First United Methodist Church,?Geneseo. She was a long-time registered nurse working first at a private practice and later at Hillcrest Nursing Home, Hammond-Henry Hospital and Geneseo Good Samaritan Village. She was a member of First United Methodist Church.
    Survivors include step-children and spouses, Dennis and Teresa Pobanz of Colorado Springs, Colo., Gary and Carolyn Pobanz of Fort Collins, Colo., and Randy and Terri Pobanz of Geneseo; three grandchildren, Heather Wilson, Rachel Pobanz and Sherry Kelly; three great grandchildren; three step-great grandchildren; two half-sisters and spouse, Susan Pinnell of Michigan City, Ind. and Catherine and Paul Pasquarella of Oak Lawn; four cousins and spouses, Janie Ogilvie of Grand Rapids, Mich., Terry and Theresa Shields of Galva, Joyce and Terry Taylor of Carbon?Cliff and Dr. Bill and Joanne Rodgers of Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Albert and Virgil; step-mother and aunt Mary Goode; uncle and step-father, Warren Goode; special aunts, Marjorie (Carl) Rotz, Bernice (Elwyn) Rodgers and Juanita (Shields) Nelson; and step-daughter, Julie (Pobanz) Jones.
