  • Dianna Sue Alexander, 63, of Geneseo, died Saturday, June 16, 2012, at her home. A private graveside funeral service was held Tuesday, June 19, in Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo. The Rev. Dr. Chris Ritter officiated. There was no visitation. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Youth Group at First United Methodist Church, Geneseo or a charity of the donor’s choice in Sue’s memory. Vandemore Funeral Home Ltd., Geneseo assisted the family with arrangements.



    Sue was born on Aug. 10, 1948, in Washington, Iowa. She was one of three daughters born to Dorthea Young and Clarence (Randy) Wade. She grew up in Geneseo and graduated from Geneseo High School in 1966. She had been married to Danny?Alexander since April 1972 and was previously marred to Ron Campbell. She earned an associates degree in registered nursing at Black Hawk?College and later a masters of science in mental health counseling from Western Illinois University. She practiced nursing and counseling for more than 35 years, working at Hammond-Henry Hospital, Maxhn McCaw’s Medical Office, Davenport Medical Center, the Robert Young Mental Health Center at Trinity?Hospital and Genesis Psychology Associates, as a RN, managing nurse and later in private practice.


    She was a devoted daughter to her elderly parents and a dedicated mother and grandmother to her three children and seven grandchildren. She was an ardent supporter helping and counseling children and assisted in starting the youth group counseling at First United Methodist, Geneseo. In addition, she had a variety of interests. She particularly enjoyed the holidays, shopping and antiquing, especially with her grandchildren.


    Survivors include her husband, Danny; daughter, Amy (Steve) Blakley of Geneseo; sons, Shawn (Kelly Farrell-wife) of Lawrence, Kan. and Ryan (Kelly) of Geneseo; seven grandchildren, Lindsey, Zachery, Chaise, MacAllister,?Logan, Leigham and Francis; her father, Randy?Wade; her mother, Dorthea Thorp, both of Geneseo; sisters, Sherrie Greenwood of Centralia and Lainie Wade of Geneseo and their children. Special friends of the family, Kendra (Jeff)?Newton and their family. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, numerous aunts and uncles and her in-laws, Maurice and Bonnie Alexander.
