Members of Geneseo’s Maple City Band will perform their 23rd annual July 4th concert at 1 p.m. in the Geneseo City Park band shell.
Geneseo Kiwanis?Club members will start serving food at 11 a.m. for their annual “Pork in the Park” event. Food choices will include a pork chop sandwich or pork burger with or without a meal.
Members of the?Maple?City Band will host an ice cream social in the park as well. The social is the band’s sole fund-raiser for the year.
The Independence Day concert will feature marches and patriotic favorites including “National Emblem,” “The Liberty Bell,” “America Exultant,” “The Chimes of Liberty” and “Stars &?Stripes Forever.”
All veterans and any area residents currently serving in the military will be recognized during the band’s performance of “Armed Forces Salute.”
Other pieces on the program will include, “America the Beautiful,” “American Flourish,” “An American Spectacular,” “The Homefront:?Musical Memories from?World War II,”?“Abide With Me,”?“Saint’s Hallelujah” and “Ashokan Farewell.”
The Geneseo Independence Day fireworks display will start at dusk on July 3. Rain date is July 4. Fireworks will be shot off on the south side of Interstate 80, across from Richmond?Hill Park.
