Donna M. Buechler, 76, of Geneseo, died Thursday, June 21, 2012, at Geneseo Good Samaritan Village. Funeral services celebrating her life were held Monday, June 25, at First Lutheran Church, Geneseo. The Rev. Dr.?Arthur Bergren officiated. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo. A visitation was held Sunday, June 24, at Vandemore Funeral Home Ltd., Geneseo. Memorials may be directed to First Lutheran Church or Hammond-Henry Hospital Auxiliary.
She was born on Jan. 22, 1936, in Moline, the daughter of Harold and Dorthe (McHenry) Nelson. She graduated from Moline High School. She married Lorrin Buechler in October 1953. She worked as a service manager at Sears Service Center for 28 years, retiring in 1992. She also was a volunteer for Hammond-Henry Hospital Auxiliary for 20 years. She was active in her community and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a long-standing member of First Lutheran Church and the Geneseo Country Club. She loved to read and loved her two Yorkshire Terrier puppies.
Survivors include her husband, Lorrin; two children and spouses, Larry and Donna of Sherrard and Darcy and Ken Hebdon of Colorado; six grandchildren, Debra, David, Justin, Jacob, Kalen and Sarah; two great grandchildren; her brother and spouse, Harold and Mary Nelson Jr. of Knoxville, Tenn.; and stepmother, Grace Nelson. She was preceded in death by her parents.
