  • Shirley R.?Guild, 84, Geneseo, died Tuesday, July 17, 2012, at her home. Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, July 20, at Vandemore Funeral Home Ltd., Geneseo. The Rev. Lou Zuck will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo. A visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Friday, July 20, prior to services at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center or Heartland Hospice.
    She was born on April 8, 1928, in Rockford, the daughter of Silas and Rose (Geishert) Noble. She was a 1946 graduate of Geneseo High School. She married George Pinks on Jan. 31, 1948. He preceded her in death. She later married John Guild on?Dec. 27, 1964. He died in 1990. She had been a country school teacher and later a bookkeeper at the Guild Grain Company from which she retired. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Women’s League and Geneseo Country Club. She was a founding member of the Hammond-Henry?Hospital Auxiliary. She taught Sunday School at First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed water skiing at the Geneseo Boat Club, golfing and playing bridge.
    Survivors include her daughter and spouse, Beth and Jim Carton of Geneseo; two sons and spouse, Bruce and Melody Pinks of Champaign; Rodney Pinks and partner David Pearson of Los Angeles, Calif.; three grandchildren and spouses, Erik Carlson, Jerica and Scott O’Connor; Lisette and Vito Valenzano; two step grandchildren, Jacquie Russell and Jenny Leone; five great grandchildren; four step great grandchildren; a sister, Lori Wright of Texas; two brothers, Clyde Noble of Hawaii and Phil Noble of Colorado; and caregiver and friend, Marie Frew. She was preceded in death by her parents, spouses; a daughter, Janet; and a grandson, Jacob.
