  • Gertrude A. DeBoever, 89, of Geneseo, died Monday, July 23, 2012, at Trinity Rock Island. A funeral Mass celebrating her life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 27, at St. Malachy’s Catholic Church, Geneseo. The Rev. Michael Pakula will officiate. Burial will be in North Cemetery, Geneseo. A visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 26, at Vandemore Funeral Home Ltd., Geneseo, where a Rosary will be recited at 6:45 p.m. Memorials may be directed to St. Malachy’s Catholic Church.
    She was born on Aug. 30, 1922, in Lindsay, Neb., the daughter of John and Frances Jasper. She married Morris A. DeBoever on June 10, 1944, at St. Malachy’s Catholic Church. She assisted Morris in farming in rural Geneseo for many years. She was a member of St. Malachy’s Catholic Church, Altar & Rosary Circle No. 9 of the church, Henry County Farm Bureau and a former member of Women of Moose. She enjoyed canning and gardening.
    Survivors include her daughter and spouse, Janet and Kenny Hipskind of East Moline; a son and spouse, John and Deb DeBoever of Geneseo; five grandchildren and spouses, Jennifer and Corey Gradert, Amy DeBoever, Marisa and T.J. Thompson, Janah and David Cunningham and Jeffrey Hipskind and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four sisters and five brothers.
