  • Antoinette L. “Ann” Sturtewagen, 95, of Atkinson, died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012, at Hammond-Henry Hospital Long Term?Care. A funeral Mass celebrating her life was held Monday, Aug. 6, 2012, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Atkinson. The Rev. R. Anthony Lee officiated. Burial was in St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Atkinson. A visitation was held Sunday, Aug. 5, at Vandemore Funeral Home Ltd., Atkinson, where a Rosary was recited. Memorials may be directed to St. Anthony’s Church.
    Ann was born on Feb. 17, 1917, in Atkinson, the daughter of Alphonse and Louise (Schatteman) VanNorway. She married Joseph Sturtewagen on Nov. 28, 1936. He died on Feb. 21, 1989. She was a member of St.?Anthony’s Catholic Church, the Altar & Rosary Society of the church and Women of the Moose. She also was a charter member of the Atkinson Historical Society and a former member of Mothers of World War II. She enjoyed refinishing furniture and antiquing, playing cards and spending time with her family and friends.
    Survivors include two sons and spouses, Ken and Annabelle Sturtewagen of Atkinson and Gary and Sandy Sturtewagen of Geneseo; grandsons and spouse, Shane of Atkinson, Shawn of Mitchellville, Iowa, Aaron and Kristen of Oswego and Jared of Ames, Iowa; granddaughter-in-law, Heather Sturtewagen of Atkinson and three great grandsons, Nickolas Sturtewagen and Ryan and Dylan Iverson. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a grandson, Shad, one brother and three sisters.
