Dean Olson of Geneseo was inducted into the Illinois 4-H Hall of Fame on Aug. 11 at the Illinois State Fair.

Olson has been a long-time supporter of 4-H in Henry County and has helped numerous 4-H’ers get started with cattle projects.

He also served as the 4-H county fair superintendent and is a former member of the Henry County Fair Board.

During the eight years Olson was a 4-H member, he not only participated in local events, but was a member of the state poultry judging team and attended Club Congress in the automotive division.

Angie Barnard, director of the Illinois 4-H Foundation, said those named to the Illinois 4-H Hall of Fame “set a standard that we believe is an inspiration and a challenge to future generations.”

“We are grateful for their dedication to the 4-H youth, and we are honored to recognize them with this award,” she said.
