  • Emma Diann VerStraete, infant daughter of Jake and Angie VerStraete, died at birth, Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012, at Baptist Health Hospital, Little Rock, Ark. A funeral Mass of the Angels was held Tuesday, Aug. 28, at St. Malachy's Catholic Church, Geneseo. The Rev. Michael Pakula officiated. A private burial followed the Mass at St. Anthony's Cemetery in Atkinson. There was no visitation. A memorial fund will be established. Vandemore Funeral Home, Geneseo, assisted the family with arrangements.
    She was adored by her family while they were able to hold her. She will always be in our hearts even though she has passed beyond this physical world. She is now in the arms of our God in heaven.
    Survivors include her parents, Jake and Angie VerStraete of Maumelle, Ark.; siblings, Shea (4), Ben (2) and Bailey (1); grandparents, Kim and Marv VerStraete of Atkinson and Randy and Diane Swagger of Canon City, Colo.; great grandfather, Merrill Taber of Atkinson; uncles and aunts, Heath VerStraete of Newport Beach, Calif., Shane VerStraete of Atkinson, Stacy Swagger of Canon City, Stephanie and Jamin Soblaskey of St. Ignace, Mich., Sara and Aaron Escamilla of Red Oak, Texas, and Marissa and Dan Parr of Milan and many cousins. She was preceded in death by great grandparents, Bernard and Helen VerStraete, Marion Taber, John and Mildred Aue and Kenneth and Margaret Swagger.
