  • E. Luetta “Lou” Hammer, 80, of Annawan, died Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012, at the Hammond-Henry Hospital Long Term Care Unit. Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, at Concordia Lutheran Church, Geneseo. The Rev. Stephen Mueller will officiate. A visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in the Annawan Cemetery. Memorials may be left to the Annawan/Alba Rescue Squad. Vandemore Funeral Home Ltd., Atkinson is in charge of the arrangements.
    Lou was born on April 23, 1932, in DuQuoin, the daughter of Joseph Hezekiah and Elsie L. (Robertson) Yearian. She married Gerald E. Hammer on Dec. 4, 1971, in Annawan. Lou was a cook at the former Atkinson Plaza Restaurant and as well at Geneseo Good Samaritan for several years. She also did bookkeeping and tax preparation for clients out of her home. Lou was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, Geneseo and a former member of the Women of the Moose, the Hammond-Henry Hospital Auxiliary and the Annawan Food Pantry. She enjoyed fishing, camping and spending time with her family.
    Survivors include her husband, Gerald; four sons and spouses, Keith and Debbie Tinsman of Indianapolis, Ind., Steve and Tammy Tinsman of Laurel Hill, Fla., Dave and Kathy Tinsman of Wichita, Kan. and John and Kay Hammer of Kewanee; four daughters and spouse, Vickie Hoogerwerf of Annawan, Dyann and Greg Wancket of Annawan, Renee Tinsman Dean of Annawan and Sheryl Hammer of Annawan; 31 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; one brother, Herman Yearian of Council Bluffs, Iowa and one sister, Daisey Woods of Annawan. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Clyde, Franklin, George and Sherman; two sisters, Blanche and Louise; and a son-in-law, John Hoogerwerf.
