  • Leora VanWinkle, 87, of Geneseo, died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012, at Hammond-Henry Hospital, Geneseo. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, at Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, 225 E. Park St., Geneseo. The Rev. Dr. Chris Ritter will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo. A visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21, at the funeral home.

    Leora Butler was born on Sept. 20, 1924, in Tallapoosa, Mo., the daughter of David and Lily (Shaw) Butler. She married George M. VanWinkle on Nov. 8, 1942, in East Prairie, Mo. He died on March 25, 1990. She had cleaned for several families and businesses in the Geneseo area. She had volunteered at the Geneseo Food Pantry for several years. She loved to fish, do puzzles and watch the Chicago Cubs. She especially loved and enjoyed spending time with all her family.
    Survivors include three sons, Audie "Rip"(Pam) VanWinkle of Geneseo, David (Sharon) VanWinkle of Friendship, Wis. and George (Carol) VanWinkle of Colona; 10 grandchildren, Carleen (Jim) Mitchell, Tom (Diana Ernst) VanWinkle, Tammy Robinson, Christine Aide, Teresa (Greg) Winchester, Tracey VanWinkle, Susie (Larry) Warren, Julie (Randy) Huizenga, Davina (Jeff Hedler) Brenden, and Jeanne VanWinkle; 14 great grandchildren, Alyssa, Akoya, Brandon, Kimberly, Ryan, Shawn, Samantha, Heather, Tyler, David, Zachary, Diesel, Sunshine and Emma; two great-great grandchildren, Mya and Stetson; a brother, Audie Lee Butler; four sisters-in-law, Mary Louise, Eileen, Mickey and Oma; two brothers-in-law, Herman and Col. Lee, along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Henry; three sisters and a brother.
