Host families are needed for the 53nd annual Geneseo International Thanksgiving Fellowship Program.
The program, unique to Illinois, is carried out in communities surrounding centers in Geneseo, Morrison, Paris, Prophetstown and Sterling-Rock Falls.
International college students from Chicago area colleges are brought by charter buses to participating areas in Illinois for the Thanksgiving weekend, Nov. 21 to 25.
The International Thanksgiving Fellowship provides students with a chance to meet Americans and learn about their homes, and the American holiday of Thanksgiving. Students also are able to see a part of America outside of Chicago.
Host families (singles or couples, with or without children) with an extra bedroom and a willingness to share their holiday and to learn about another culture are needed.
Guests, some with families, will arrive at approximately 6 p.m. Nov. 21 at First Congregational Church in Geneseo. They will leave from the same location at 2 p.m. Nov. 25.
The only group event that all hosts and guests need to attend will be a 6 p.m. international potluck followed by a program on Nov. 24 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Geneseo.
A host information meeting for previous and new hosts will be at 7 p.m. Nov. 12 at First Presbyterian Church in Geneseo.
Host applications must be completed by Nov. 7. For
