Charles "Rusty" Larimer, 88, of Peoria, formerly of Geneseo, died Monday, Sept. 24, 2012, at Rosewood Care Center in Peoria. A service to celebrate the life of Rusty will be held at noon Saturday, Sept. 29, at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Decatur Humane Society.
Rusty was born on Sept. 10, 1924, in New Lexington, Ohio, the son of William and Iva Mae (Bell) Larimer. He proudly served his country in the USMC during World War II. Rusty was a member of the United Mine Workers Union for 60 years and worked for Associated Electric for 45 years. He married Theresa Hobson on June 15, 2004.
Survivors include his wife; sons and spouses, James and Deanna Larimer and David and Jo Larimer; daughter, Karla Morris; step-children and spouses, Diane and Dick Rusk, Carol and Bill Barker, Mike and Sandy Hobson, Russ Hobson, Chris and Pam Hobson, Sue and Dave Walsh, Barbara and Doyle Whiting, Teresa and Earsel Alloway, Nancy Pleasant and Tim Hobson; five grandchildren; one great grandchild; many step-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Rusty was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; three sisters; wife, Lila Lee; wife, Margaret; son, Bruce; and step-daughter, Sharon.
