Harry R. Bottorff, 66, of Geneseo, died Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2012, at Hammond-Henry Hospital, Geneseo. A Mass of Christian Burial was Tuesday, Oct. 16 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Colona. A visitation was held Monday, Oct. 15 at Schroder Mortuary, Silvis. Burial was Wednesday Oct. 17 at Camp Butler Cemetery, Springfield. He was born on Oct. 29, 1945, in Moline, the son of Robert and Virginia (Hollingsworth) Bottorff. He received a bachelor's degree from SIU where he met his wife, Kathleen Kulek. They married on Feb. 15, 1974, in Ely, Nev. He served in the Army during Vietnam. He worked at International Harvestor for 10 years and later retired from the Corp of Engineers.
He enjoyed carpentry, fishing, gardening, raising livestock and nature. He was an avid story and joke teller, and loved to travel.
Survivors include his wife, Kathleen; daughters and spouse, Emily Bottorff of Chicago and Jill and Adam Braun of South Elgin; two grandsons, Owen and Connor; sisters and spouses, Kay and Larry Streeby of Asotin, Wash. and June and Tom O'Donoghue of Northfield; and a brother and spouse, Dick and Nancy Bottorff of Minneapolis, Minn. He was preceded in death by his parents.
