  • David F. "Dave" Sherbeyn Sr., 65, of Geneseo, died at his home on Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 15 at First Lutheran Church, Geneseo. The Rev. Dr. Arthur Bergren officiated. Burial was in McHenry Cemetery, Geneseo. A visitation was held Sunday, Oct. 14 at Vandemore Funeral Home, Geneseo. Memorials may be directed to the Dave Sherbeyn Memorial Fund.
    Dave was born on July 14, 1947, in Atkinson, the son of August P. and Margaret (Holevoet) Sherbeyn. He was a 1965 graduate of Geneseo High School. He married Joy Rogers Moore on June 8, 1974, in Rock Falls. He was a bus driver and mechanic with Pinks' Bus Service, Geneseo for more than 30 years and owned and operated Dave's Truck and Auto Repair in Geneseo for 10 years. He was a member of First Lutheran Church, Geneseo and the Geneseo Moose Lodge No. 990. He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed fishing, hunting and restoring old cars.
    Survivors include his wife, Joy; one son and spouse, David Jr. and Barb Sherbeyn of Geneseo; four daughters and spouses, Tammy and Bob Smith of Prophetstown, Dawn and Greg Woolam of Atkinson, Paula and Jim Glawe of Geneseo and Shelli Miller of North Carolina; 10 grandchildren, Janelle, Ashley, Dustin, Jackie, Brandon, Drew, Kelsey, Whitney, Carlie and Tyler; two great grandchildren, Peyton and Kaden; two brothers and spouses, Vern and Betsy Sherbeyn of Geneseo and Tom and Deb Sherbeyn of Geneseo; one sister, JoAnn Sager of Moline and one sister-in-law, Dorothy Sherbeyn. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Vicki Haars and one brother, Joe Sherbeyn.
