  • Jack W. Garinger, 84, of Geneseo, died Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at Amber Ridge Memory Care, Moline.   • Jack W. Garinger, 84, of Geneseo, died Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at Amber Ridge Memory Care, Moline. Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at the Geneseo Chapel of Vandemore Funeral Home. Deacon Harley Chaffee will officiate. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo, where military honors will be accorded by the Don Cherry VFW Post No. 5083. A visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9 at the funeral home. Memorials may be left to the Jack Garinger Memorial Fund.
    He was born on April 15, 1928, in Oakland, Calif., the son of James Vance and Bessie Opal (McDaniel) Garinger. He was a 1946 graduate of Warren Central High School in Indianapolis, Ind. and a 1950 graduate of Indiana University. He proudly served as First Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force as a radar navigator during the Korean War. He married Marianne Laramie on Aug. 31, 1952, in Indianapolis. He worked for International Rectifier of El Segundo, Calif. and was co-owner of Safro and Associates in Skokie, as a manufacturer's representative for industrial electronics, retiring in 1988. He was a member of the Stewart Masonic Lodge No. 92 AF&AM in Geneseo. He enjoyed woodworking, building houses, golfing and spending time with his family.
    Survivors include his wife, Marianne; one son, Joseph Garinger of Muskego, Wis.; three daughters and spouses, Jackie and Joe Mickley of Geneseo, Jody and Bruce Wolfe of Geneseo and Jeannette and John Beck of Champaign; 13 grandchildren and spouses, Jake and Amelia Mickley, Joe (fiancée, Kari Hartsock) Mickley, James and Avery Mickley, Jenna Mickley, Anne and Adam Watson, Evan and Jimmy Hill, Charles Wolfe, Lindsey and Ben Blonder, Derek and Lorena Vaughn, John Beck, Elizabeth Beck, Amy Jo Garinger and Alec Garinger; and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
