Mildred (Stuart) Johnson, 85, of Long Point, died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, at OSF St. James Hospital, Pontiac. Funeral services were held Thursday, Nov. 8 at the Winterrowd Funeral Home. Burial was in Long Point Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers and pallbearers were her grandchildren and step-grandchildren. A visitation was Wednesday, Nov. 7 at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor's choice.
She was born on Jan. 20, 1927, in Ottawa, the daughter of Herman and Ruth (Hamlyn) Siebert. She married Lee M. Stuart on May 15, 1945, in Hannibal, Mo. He died Aug. 24, 1972. She then married Clarence Johnson on Feb. 14, 1986, in Ancona. He died Oct. 19, 2012. She was a homemaker, she enjoyed playing cards, needlework and watching her great grandsons play sports. You could see Mildred and Clarence many afternoons picking up cans along the roadside. Many will tell you when you saw one of them, the other one was close by. She loved a fun afternoon on Saturday watching four of her great grandsons play on the FCW football team, the joy of her life.
Survivors include four daughters and spouses, Paula and Warren Schneider of Geneseo, Rita and Dale Rients of Long Point, Martha and Don Hilts of Minonk and Mary and Arlin Tjaden of Roanoke; three step-children, Marion Johnson of Ancona, Dorothy (Mac) McDermid of Columbia, S.C. and Judy Berry of Streator; 12 grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 19 step-great grandchildren; sister, Leona Sorenson of Ottawa and several sisters-in-laws, brothers-in-laws, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three grandchildren, Karen (Rients) Hays and James and Monica Tjaden; five brothers and five sisters.
