Some high school students walk by the house on the way to school. They look so young to me from where I sit looking through aging eyes. Did I look that young when I was their age? Do I now look like an old man to these kids? Wasn’t it just yesterday when I was heading out to St. Mary’s?
Where was I when my youth left? Never thought it would happen, this getting old. Others did that, not me; not my classmates and friends. We were to be the exception, the “fifties” teenagers that would always be young…teens forever. How swiftly the years have flown; how long ago are those carefree days when I was young. I am now that grey haired old man the youth see. I am the older generation.
If you are young and are reading this, keep in mind that it is about me today, but it will be your story before you know it. So, I say to you, “Live your life deliberately each day, make good choices for tomorrow and someday, when you are the grey haired older generation, look for my footprints, for I too was once like you.
