Leila M. Hulting, 89, of Annawan, died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, at Hammond-Henry Long Term Care, Geneseo. Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 15 at the Fairview Methodist Church, south of Annawan. The Rev. Dan Wright officiated. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery. A visitation was held prior to services at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Annawan-Alba Library or the Annawan-Alba Food Pantry. Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, Annawan, assisted the family with arrangements.
Leila Mae Dynes was born on April 12, 1923, in Annawan, the daughter of George and Lois (Machesney) Dynes. She graduated from Annawan High School, attended Cornell College, and graduated from Iowa State University. She married Alvin "Bud" Hulting on Oct. 5, 1947, at Fairview Methodist Church in Annawan Township. She was a member of the Fairview Church, the UMW of the church, and the Annawan-Alba Women's Club. She was an award-winning pie baker. Her family always came first in her life.
Survivors include her husband, Bud; two sons and daughters-in-law, Albert and Nancy Hulting of Annawan and Russ and Deb Hulting of Loveland, Colo.; a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Fred Anderson of Brookfield, Wis.; five grandchildren, Judd Hulting, Andy Hulting, Elizabeth Wied, Kathryn Nielsen and Kristofer Anderson; six great grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Wildemuth of Annawan and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.
