Darrell L. Palmer, 51, of Cambridge, died Friday, Dec. 14, 2012, in the emergency room of Hammond-Henry Hospital, Geneseo. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 18 at the Cambridge Chapel of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services. The Rev. Todd Smith officiated. Cremation took place after the service. A visitation was held prior to services at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Darrell Palmer Memorial Fund.
He was born on March 4, 1961, in Geneseo, the son of Virgil J. and Marlene (Kespohl) Palmer. He was educated in Geneseo schools and graduated from Geneseo High School in 1979. He married Veronica "Ronnie" Kowitz on Sept. 8, 1986, in Cambridge. He worked for Osco Feed and Fertilizer Co. and later for Gold Star FS Inc. in Atkinson and Cambridge. He also worked in the spring and the fall for Rick Turner Farm, Cambridge. He enjoyed fishing, camping and many other outdoor activities.
Survivors include his wife, Ronnie; his mother, Marlene Palmer of Cambridge; a sister, Cynthia Legate of Kewanee; a brother and sister-in-law, Kevin and Terrie Palmer of Moline; two nieces Reva and Renee and a nephew, Sam; sisters-in-law, Annette Brooks of Cambridge and Jeanette (Phil) Kilstrom of Erie; brothers-in-law, Eugene Kowitz Sr. of Tennessee and Wilbur W. Kowitz Jr. of Hawaii; a niece, Julie (Jason) Dobbels and several great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his father; a brother, Timothy Wayne, and his mother- and father-in-law, Billie and Wilbur Kowitz.
