  • Barbara C. Gramling, 92, of Geneseo, died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012, at Good Samaritan Village, Geneseo. Funeral services celebrating her life were held Monday, Dec. 24 at the Geneseo Chapel of Vandemore Funeral Homes Ltd. The Rev. Bruce Bergthold officiated. Burial was in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. A visitation was held Sunday, Dec. 23 at the funeral home. Memorials may be left to the Geneseo Senior Citizen Center.
    She was born on Sept. 20, 1920, in Geneseo, the daughter of Walter and June (Crook) Schweninger. She was a graduate of Geneseo High School. She married Edward Gramling on May 31, 1941, in Galt, Mo. He died in 1983. She was a homemaker and belong to First Congregational Church, Geneseo. She also belong to the American Legion Auxiliary Chapter and the Geneseo Senior Citizens, where she worked in the business office for more than 25 years. She was a past treasurer of the Geneseo American Legion, past treasurer of the Geneseo Senior Center Site Council, past president of the Henry County Senior Citizens, treasurer of Maple City Apartments, past president of the Tenant Council Housing Authority of Henry County, Kewanee and a member of the Geneseo Chapter NSDAR. She enjoyed reading, crocheting and visiting with friends.
    Survivors include one son and spouse, Robert and Sharon Gramling of Geneseo; one daughter and spouse, Vickie and Dan Catour of Orion; four grandchildren and spouses, Christopher and Pam Gramling, Robyn and Rod Gerhardt, Justin and Betsy Catour and Heather and Dan Larkins and 12 great grandchildren, Bryce, Paige and Jessa Gramling, Shawn Jordyn and Kylie Gerhardt, Faith, Allen and Lonnie Catour and Ayla, Zoe and Augustus Larkins. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Elmer; and two sisters, Shirley Gray and Margery Heeren.
