  • Obituary: Darrell Reddick

  • Darrell Wayne Reddick, of Andover, died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, at Trinity Rock Island. Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 29 at First United Methodist Church, Geneseo. A visitation was held Friday, Dec. 28 at Kirk, Huggins and Esterdahl Funeral Home, Orion. Burial was in Andover Cemetery. Memorials may be made to his family for a fund to be established in his name.

  • Darrell Wayne Reddick, of Andover, died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, at Trinity Rock Island. Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 29 at First United Methodist Church, Geneseo. A visitation was held Friday, Dec. 28 at Kirk, Huggins and Esterdahl Funeral Home, Orion. Burial was in Andover Cemetery. Memorials may be made to his family for a fund to be established in his name.
    He was born on April 5, 1938, in Letts, Iowa, the son of George Clayton and Rebecca (Reed) Reddick. He married Roselyn "Rose Bud" Frietag Barbre on Dec. 21, 1957, in Andalusia. She died on July 31, 1997. He worked as a painter and later as a Crane Operator for John Deere Plow Planter, Moline, retiring after 30 years in 1987. He was a very active member of Andover United Methodist Church where he was a Trustee Chairperson, lay leader and usher. Also, he attended First United Methodist in Geneseo. He loved harness racing and would volunteer to help his family, friends and his church.
    Survivors include daughters, Elizabeth Johnson of Moline, Terry (Randy) Haars of Geneseo, Carol (Tom) Rogers of North Henderson and Barbara (Donald Hansen) Colwell of Rock Island; seven grandchildren, Amanda Cummings, Kasey Haars, Kolby Haars, Allan Reddick, Ashley Colwell, Zachary Reddick and Kyle Jones; three great grandchildren, Kylie Colwell, Ethan Colwell and Gia Marie Decker; brothers, Harlan (Joyce) Reddick of Woodhull and Marvin (Florence) Reddick of Aledo; sister, Betsy (Harley) Asher of Marceline, Mo.; and sisters-in-law, Marian Reddick of New Windsor and Beverly Reddick of Andalusia. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; sister, Marcella Reed; and brothers, Eldon, Clyle, Hilton and Rodney.
