I recently heard someone say how bored they were and that they lived in the most boring town ever. I have heard others say the same thing. These are not kids, but adults with families. I can’t believe what I am hearing.
What do you mean, “bored”? Is it a disease or a type of “germ”? Is it a spell that is placed on one? Is it an alien takeover? What do you mean, “bored”?
The word, “bored” has echoed through the years as long as I can remember. Bored has to be the most uncreative excuse there is for wasting time. That said; here are some thoughts to consider.
Bored is an attitude, not a geographic location. Look around you. All the electronic gadgets, a hundred and one channels and counting, friends, family, children, books, etc.; the list of things to do without even leaving your home.
Bored is a state of mind. Look outside! There is no fighting in the streets, no bombs dropping, no bodies lying around, no screams of terror and fear. Maybe if there was, then you would not be so bored…or maybe, you are starting to feel thankful that there is peace and quiet where you live.
Bored! A choice you make…to complain no matter what. Choose to be bored and even heaven will not make a difference. Have you ever thought about how fleeting life is? Have you ever thought about being thankful for the time you have?
Choose to be bored or choose to make use of the time you have. What about your kids, your parents, your spouse, your friends…do you take it for granted that they will always be here, that you will? Why not make better use of the time you have with them.
You will be very old someday, Lord willing, and you will look back on the time you wasted being bored…and you will live with regrets that will not ever go away.
Right now, in this very moment, is a real good time to wake up…stop, smell the roses, and be thankful that you can; then treat the time God has given you with more respect and make the best use of it…or live with painful regret someday.
