  • Marjorie L. DeMay, 88, of Atkinson, died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at Hillcrest Home, Geneseo. A Mass of Christian burial celebrating her life was held Monday, Jan. 7 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Atkinson. The Rev. R. Anthony Lee officiated. Burial was in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Atkinson. A visitation was held Sunday, Jan. 6 at the Atkinson Chapel of Vandemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services Ltd., where a prayer service was held. Memorials may be left to Hillcrest Home.
    She was born on Feb. 20, 1924, in Atkinson, the daughter of Alphonese "Ben" and Emma (Minnaert) Dupre. She married Lawrence "Bus" DeMay on July 26, 1944, in Atkinson. He died in 1984. She was a homemaker in her own home and was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Atkinson and the Altar and Rosary Society of the church. She belonged to the Geneseo Women of the Moose and enjoyed playing Bingo, her card parties, crocheting and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
    Survivors include four daughters, Cheryl (Bob) Webb of Canton, Norma Disterhoft of Atkinson, Janice Sullivan of Olathe, Kan., and Connie DeMay of Geneseo; seven grandchildren, Angela, Bruce, Beverley, Stacy, Jonathan, Amanda and Dennis; and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter, Kathy Downard and one sister, Catherine DeSplinter.
