  • Harry Lewis "Lew" Parrish, 77, of Nelsonville, Ky., formerly of Geneseo, died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at Hardin Memorial Hospital. Funeral services celebrating his life were Wednesday, Jan 9 at Concordia Lutheran Church, Geneseo. The Rev. Stephen Mueller officiated. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo. A visitation was held Tuesday, Jan. 8 at the Geneseo Chapel of Vandemore Funeral Homes and Cremation Services Ltd. Memorials may be left to the Lew Parrish Memorial Fund.
    Lew was born on July 26, 1935, in Nelsonville, the son of John W. and Lena (Crady) Parrish. He married Lila Neuleib on March 21, 1953, in Geneseo. She died in 1999. He later married Henrietta Hall. Lew worked for U Nash and Bos Machine as a machine repairman for 35 years, retiring in 2000. He was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church and had been active in the Geneseo Youth Baseball organization for many years. He was an avid stock car racer and demolition derby participant in many county fairs. He enjoyed coaching sports when his boys were younger and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family.
    Survivors include his wife, Henrietta; one daughter, Sue (Bob) Robinson of Kewanee; three sons, Richard Parrish of Bettendorf, Iowa, Bill (Liz) Parrish of Geneseo and Dennis Parrish of Geneseo; 11 grandchildren, Jamie (Al) Eastburn, Callie Parrish, Jason Parrish, Heather (Josh) Bernhard, Cory Parrish, Lindsey (Jeff) Jennings, Stacee Parrish, Beau Parrish, Jennifer (Haneesh) Bagga, Sarah Robinson and Michelle Robinson; 11 great grandchildren; four brothers, Donald Parrish of Nelsonville, Jimmy Parrish of Nelsonville, Larry Parrish of Okolona, Ky. and Foster Parrish of Corapeake, N.C.; two sisters, Dorothy Clemons of Nelsonville and Mattie Gibson of New Haven, Ky. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Junior and Marvin Parrish.
