Leota M. Williams, 87, of Geneseo died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at Good Samaritan Village, Geneseo. Funeral services celebrating her life were held Monday, Jan. 7 at the Geneseo Chapel of Vandemore Funeral Homes and Cremation Services Ltd. Deacon Harley Chaffee officiated. Burial was in North Cemetery, Geneseo. A visitation was held prior to services at the funeral home. Memorials may be left to the Leota Williams Memorial Fund.
She was born on April 26, 1925, in Neosha, Mo., the daughter of Bose R. and Minnie (Blakley) Gann. She married Francis J. Williams on March 1, 1942, in Forsythe, Mo. He died in 2001. She was a homemaker and an avid flower gardener. She enjoyed watching old movies, going out to eat with friends and loved watching the Chicago Cubs.
Survivors include four daughters, Peggy Williams of Geneseo, Imogene (Lynn) DeDecker of Marion, Iowa, Rosetta Peiffer of Moline and Brenda (Greg) VanOpdorp of Geneseo; one son, Rod (Janice) Williams of Geneseo; 11 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and one brother, William Gann of Billings, Mo. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister, Kathleen Mooney, and a son-in-law, Craig Peiffer.
