  • The Geneseo City Council election will be uncontested when voters go to the polls on April 9.
The four incumbent aldermen whose seats are up for election will all appear on the ballot unopposed.
Aldermen who filed petitions for candidacy include: Carl Freeman (First Ward), James Roodhouse (Second Ward), Howard Beck (Third Ward) and Douglas Crow (Fourth Ward).
Freeman was appointed to the city council in April 2012 to fill a First-Ward seat vacated by retiring alderman Lowell Ewert.
Roodhouse was appointed to the council in October 2012 to replace alderman Jeanne Hartsock, who moved outside city limits and no longer met the council's residency requirements.
Both Beck and Crow were originally elected to the council in April 2011.
