Since the start of the 2012-13 school year, schools in the Geneseo district have earned more than $4,000 though General Mills' Box Tops for Education program.
Specially marked "Box Tops for Education" labels appear on the packages of a variety of products ranging from cereal to office supplies.
Each Box Tops for Education label is worth 10 cents and can be redeemed by schools and funding used to purchase supplies or sponsor special programs.
Since July of 2012, students at Millikin Elementary School have collected $2,012.70 worth of labels.
Northside students have earned $1,179.50. Southwest students have earned $779.48 and Geneseo Middle School students have received $122.04.
Outside of the Geneseo School District, St. Malachy's School students have collected $575.75 worth of Box Tops for Education labels, while Annawan Grade School students have collected $553.23.
All together, Geneseo and St. Malachy's students, along with those from Annawan, have collected 52,227 Box Top for Education labels since July.
