  • Wallace L. Wiedenhoeft, 93, of Geneseo, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at Hillcrest Home, Geneseo. Funeral services celebrating his life were held Monday, Jan. 14, at First Lutheran Church, Geneseo. The Rev. Dr. Arthur Bergren officiated. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo, where military rites were accorded by Don Cherry VFW Post No. 5083. A visitation was held Sunday, Jan. 13 at the Geneseo Chapel of Vandemore Funeral Homes and Cremation Services Ltd. Memorials may be left to First Lutheran Church, Geneseo; Hillcrest Home or the Geneseo Historical Museum.
    He was born on Jan. 23, 1919, in Geneseo, the son of Lane and Mabelle (Sten) Wiedenhoeft. He was a graduate of Geneseo High School. He married Frances L. Hultgren on July 21, 1945, in Andover. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was a lifelong farmer in Munson Township and also worked for C.D. Ford and Sons in Geneseo and the Ferry Morse Seed Corn Co.
    He was an active member of First Lutheran Church in Geneseo and belonged to the American Legion Post in Geneseo. He also volunteered at the Geneseo Historical Museum. He enjoyed following his grandchildren's events and spending time with his family and friends.
    Survivors include his wife, Frances; one daughter, Nancy (Lorrin "Butch") DeBlieck of Burlington, Iowa; one son, Mark (Deb) Wiedenhoeft of Geneseo; two granddaughters, Krista (Brett) Ford and Kara Wiedenhoeft; one great granddaughter, Camille Ford; one brother, Roland Wiedenhoeft of Rock Island; and one sister, Virginia Wightman of Colorado Springs, Colo. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Ruth Johnson.
