Karen K. Cadogan, 68, of Geneseo, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, at Hillcrest Home, Geneseo. Funeral services celebrating her life were held Thursday, Jan. 24 at Bethel Baptist Church, Port Byron. The Rev. Don Masterson officiated. Per her request, cremation rites were accorded following the service and private inurnment will be held Friday, Jan. 25 in the Rock Island National Cemetery. A visitation was held two hours prior to the service at the church in Port Byron. Memorials may be left to the Michael J. Fox Foundation. Vandemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services assisted the family with arrangements.
She was born on Nov. 4, 1944, in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Herbert and Kathryn Mason. She was a 1963 graduate of Clinton High School. She married Daniel L. Cadogan on March 4, 1981, in Camanche, Iowa. She was a homemaker in her own home. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Port Byron, and a former member of the Red Hat Society. She was very artistic and was an artist at oil painting and charcoal drawing and calligraphy.
Survivors include her husband, Daniel; one son, Trent (Eileen) Cadogan of Boise, Idaho; one daughter, Jennifer (Larry) Meyers of Washington; five granddaughters, Samantha, Janelle, Kathryn, Tracie and Tori; one brother, Keith Mason of Chicago; and two sisters, Kendra Kampling of Urbandale, Iowa and Kim Wallace of Clinton, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents.
