Sharon Ann Lawson, 73, of Geneseo died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, at Hammond-Henry Hospital, Geneseo. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2 in the mausoleum at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Mark Larson will officiate. A visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1 at Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, Geneseo. Memorials may be made to Sharon Lawson Memorial Fund.
She was born on Sept. 20, 1939, in Derby, Ind., the daughter of Charles Leon and Elma J. (Bryant) Lampkins. She graduated from New Haven High School in 1959. She also attended Black Hawk College in Moline. She married Frank Lawson in Ft. Wayne, Ind. She had worked as a nurse’s aide for six years at Oak Glen Home, Coal Valley and then at Hammond-Henry Hospital, Geneseo for 16 years until retiring in 1991. She was a member of Christian Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Geneseo. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, cooking, baking and loved to laugh. She had been a foster mom to more than 120 children.
Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Janet Lampkins of Ft. Wayne; two grandchildren, Randie and Jessey Lawson of Rock Island; and her companion and friend, Judy Bishop, Kewanee. She preceded in death by her parents; sister, Linda Love; and son Steven “Biker Bob” Lawson.
