Thomas L. “Tip” Price, 74, of rural Geneseo, died Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus, Iowa. A funeral service celebrating his life was held Tuesday, Feb. 5 at the Geneseo Chapel of Vandemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services. The Rev. Christopher Buschre officiated. A visitation was Monday, Feb. 4 at the Geneseo Chapel of Vandemore Funeral Homes and Cremation Services. Per his request, cremation rites have been accorded. Memorials may be left to the Tip Price Memorial Fund.
He was born on March 16, 1938, in Wyoming, Ill., the son of John Price and Helen (Frisby) Price Cheeseman. He married Anda Gehn on Oct. 7, 1983, at St. Johns in Edford Township. He was a butcher. He then worked as a meat inspector for the Illinois Department of Agriculture for several years, from which he retired. He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing poker and horse racing. He also enjoyed spending time with his dog, Precious, and traveling.
Survivors include his wife, Anda; one son, Brad Price of Warren, Mich.; one stepson, Kurt (Kathy) Gehn of Geneseo; two daughters, Sherry (Chuck) Miller of Colona and Tracy (Greg) VanDusen of Silvis; one stepdaughter, Kelly Helg of Geneseo; one daughter-in-law, Becky Price of Coal Valley; eight grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; four brothers, Bill (Judy) Price of Toulon; Harry (Judy) Price of Oklahoma City, Okla.; Jim (Joyce) Price of Wyoming, Ill.; and Bob (Wanda) Price of Oquawka; and one sister, Sharon Gutierre of Montclair, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Barry Price; one step son-in-law, Christopher Helg; one brother and four sisters.
