  • Daniel M. "Danny" Pratt, 52, of Atkinson, died courageously Monday, Feb. 25 2013, surrounded by his family at home. Funeral services celebrating his life will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 2 at St. Anthony's Church, Atkinson. Burial will follow at Dayton Corners Cemetery, Colona. A visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, March 1 at Vandemore Funeral Home, Atkinson. The family requests that those attending the visitation to please wear their "Team Danny" shirts. Memorials may be directed to the Daniel Pratt Memorial Fund.
    He was born on April 14, 1960, in Moline, the son of Richard and Wilma (Hayes) Pratt. He was a 1979 graduate of Geneseo High School. He married Glynda Sims on May 9, 1987, in Geneseo. Danny worked at Empire Equipment Company in Geneseo for several years as a mechanic and later at Wyffels Hybrids in Atkinson in the Plant Maintenance Division for the last 10 years. He loved spending time at the family lake, hunting and fishing. Danny was an avid Chicago Bears and Cubs fan and enjoyed his time in the garage with family and friends enjoying beverages.
    Survivors include his wife, Glynda; his mother, Wilma Pratt of Geneseo; one daughter, Hayley Pratt of Des Moines, Iowa, where she is attending Drake University; one son, R.J. (Danielle) Pratt of Atkinson; three sisters, Beth (Doug) Schwager of Long Grove, Iowa, Gail (Steve) Evans of Millington, Tenn. and Val Edge of Maiden Rock, Wis.; three brothers, Mike (Mary) Pratt, Steve Pratt and Joe Pratt, all of Geneseo; several nieces and nephews whom he adored; and "brother" and special friend, Greg (Dawn) Woolam of Atkinson. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard; his grandparents; an infant brother; and two nephews, Jared Sims and Brett Martin.
