The merger between Farmers Mutual Electric Co. of Geneseo and Jo-Carroll Energy, headquartered in Elizabeth, was finalized on April 1.
As a result of the merger, Jo-Carroll Energy now serves approximately 19,900 electric accounts.
Jo-Carroll Energy will offer service centers in Geneseo, Savanna and Elizabeth. Michael Hastings continues as president and CEO of Jo-Carroll Energy. Robert Delp, who served as the general manager of Farmers Mutual Electric Co., has become a senior vice president - special projects for Jo-Carroll Energy.
A 10th district also was added to represent members in the Geneseo area. Three directors will represent the 10th district with that number gradually reduced
Farmers Mutual members voted last November to approve the merger.
“We are pleased to welcome the new members and staff to our cooperative family,” said Hastings. “For almost 75 years, Jo-Carroll Energy has played an active role in the communities we serve. We look forward to continuing that tradition in the new addition to our service territory.”
Jo-Carroll Energy’s annual members meeting will be April 13. An appreciation breakfast will be served from 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the Elizabeth Community Building. Meeting registration starts at 8 a.m. and will continue until the meeting starts at 10 a.m. in the gymnasium at Highland Community College West in Elizabeth.
