She was among the first women to become a machinist at the Rock Island Arsenal, graduating from their apprenticeship program. She enjoyed antiquing and was a fixture at area auctions. She loved the simplicity and beauty of antiques and quilts. She loved reading, especially mysteries and science fiction, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was a great listener and had a heart of gold.
