Gene A. Williams, 74, of Geneseo, died Sunday, April 7, 2013, at his home. A memorial service celebrating his life was held Thursday, April 11 at Vandemore Funeral Home Ltd., Geneseo. The Rev. Dr. David Esche officiated. Per his request, cremation rites have been accorded. Inurnment was in Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo. A visitation was held one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Memorials may be left to Rebuilding Together.
He was born on Oct. 29, 1938, in Canton, the son of Perry and Olivene (Ellis) Williams. He was a graduate of Canton Senior High School in Canton. He married Patricia A. Averill on Aug. 19, 1958, in Lewiston. He worked at Case I.H. for 30 years as a welder, retiring in 1992. He belonged to the Geneseo Gun Club. He played softball when he was younger and enjoyed playing the guitar. He had a true love for country music.
Survivors include his wife, Pat; two sons, Mark Williams of Geneseo and Steve Williams of Des Moines, Iowa; one daughter, Jennifer Walsh of Millersville, Md.; four grandchildren, Kevin Williams, Marcus Williams, Matthew Walsh and Aidan Walsh; three sisters, Betty Kinzer of Geneseo; Linda Voorshees of Ohio and Judy Swearingen of California. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
