Rolland W. Rahn, 93, Geneseo, died Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at Aspenwood Health Care Center, Silvis. A funeral service celebrating his life was held Saturday, April 27 at Concordia Lutheran Church, Geneseo. The Rev. Stephen Mueller officiated. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo. A visitation was held one hour prior to services at the church. Memorials may be left to Concordia Lutheran Church. Vandemore Funeral Homes Ltd., Geneseo assisted the family with arrangements.
He was born on Aug. 23, 1919, in rural Atkinson, the son of Adolph and Charlotte (Hanwald) Rahn. He married Marjorie L. Frank on June 13, 1943, in Geneseo. He was a lifelong dairy and grain farmer in rural Atkinson from which he retired and later moved to Geneseo. He was a longtime member of Concordia Lutheran Church as well as a Deacon of the church. For many years, he was a 4-H leader. He enjoyed bowling on the church bowling league.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie; his two sons, Arlon (Kathleen) Rahn of Mesa, Ariz., and Donald (Holly) Rahn of Geneseo; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, James Rahn and one brother, Clifford Rahn.
