The Geneseo girls’ track and field team claimed its second straight IHSA Sectional title May 2, and advanced to six individuals and three relays to this weekends state finals.
The Lady Leafs swept the hurdle events, going one-two to send three girls to state. Hannah Waller won the 100-meter hurdles, taking the tape in 15.57 seconds and the 300-m hurdles with a time of 46.39.
Hanna Vanderheyden placed second in the 100-m hurdles in 16.32; while Anna Wise came in second in the 300-m hurdles to advance to state.
Jamie DeFauw cleared 4-10 to place second in the high jump and earn a spot at state; while Rayne Bodeen came in second in the 100-m dash with a time of 12.68 for her spot at state.
Geneseo’s 4x800-m relay of Emily Ford, Halle Olson, Kelcey Adams and Katie Puls earned their spot at state with a first-place finish in 9:57.19.
The 4x100-m relay of Waller, Wise, Vanderheyden and Bodeen placed second with a time of 50.40 to head to state.
The 4x200-m relay of Wise, Ashley Kempher, Vanderheyden and Bodeen also claimed a spot at state as they finished second in 1:49.18.

Geneseo will compete at the IHSA State Finals this weekend May 17-18 in the Charleston.
