  • Kenneth “Kenny” William Howell Jr., 56, of Colona, died at his home Sunday, May 26, 2013, with his family by his side. Funeral services celebrating Kenny’s life were held Thursday, May 30 at the Colona United Methodist Church. The Rev. Sandy Bunnell officiated. Burial was in Dayton Corners Cemetery, Colona. A visitation was held Wednesday, May 29 at Vandemore Funeral Home, Geneseo. Memorials may be left to the Kenneth W. Howell Jr. Memorial Fund.
    He was born on Feb. 20, 1957, in Munich, Germany, the son of Kenneth W. and Georgiana (Reschke) Howell. He married Donna Tighe on Oct. 25, 1980, in Rock Island. He was an upholsterer for 38 years at Best Upholstery Shop in Colona. He enjoyed woodworking, watching NASCAR and was a Chicago Bears fan.
    Survivors include his wife, Donna; one son, Kenneth W. Howell III of Colona; one daughter, Brandy Howell of Colona; one brother, Brian (Donna) Howell of San Antonio, Texas; three sisters, Lyn (Ron) Thackery of Missouri, Carol (Bill) Pobanz of Missouri and Diana (Jerry) Viscioni of East Moline; two step-brothers, Paul Tines of New Orleans, La. and Richard (Brenda) Tines of Colona; one sister-in-law, Heather Tighe of Colona; one brother-in-law, David Tighe Sr. of East Moline; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his parents and his step-father.
    The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Constantinou and Kasi from Heartland Hospice for their care and concern given to Kenny and his family during this difficult time. It will always be remembered.
