  • Anna S. Yackley, 82, of Atkinson, died Sunday, May 26, 2013, at Hillcrest Home, Geneseo. A funeral Mass celebrating Anna’s life will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 31 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Atkinson. The Rev. R. Anthony Lee will celebrate. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hooppole. A visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 30 at Vandemore Funeral Home, Atkinson where a rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m. Memorials may be left to Hillcrest Home or the Atkinson Rescue Squad.
    She was born on Jan. 26, 1931, in Moline, the daughter of Aloysius and Maria (VanExe) Sagon. She married George W. Yackley on Nov. 6, 1948, in Moline. Anna had been employed for more than 31 years at Pinks’ Bus Service in Geneseo as a bus driver. Anna belonged to St. Anthony’s Church, Atkinson and was a member of the Mothers of World War II. She organized blood drives for the American Red Cross. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, camping, cooking, playing cards, and spending time with her family and friends.
    Survivors include her husband, George; two daughters, Martina (Ed) Kopel of Geneseo and Georgieanna (George) Suppes of Waterloo, Iowa; two sons, James (Suzanne) Yackley of Davenport, Iowa, and Martin (Dorothy) Yackley of Winter Haven, Fla.; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
